TAMPA (2009-09-07) The group of people who
filtered into the parking lot of the Floriland
Office Center in Tampa won't have to wait for
the bus or bother their friends to get to work
anymore. That's because they were handed the
keys to cars of their own - for free.
It's called Wheels of Success, where cars
are donated for a tax write-off and given
to low-income workers. Susan Jacobs is
program's founder.
"We're about keeping people working
and especially in this economy," she
says, "where so many people might
lose their job, the last thing you want
to know is you lost your job because of
transportation, because it's going to be
really tough finding another one."
Jacobs says Wheels of Success has given
away more than 500 cars since it was started
in 2003.
